Baby names are something people take very seriously. The desire to have a name that belongs only to your baby is very intense. One way that some parents do this is to choose a unique or something changed spelling of a more general name. Two examples from my own children (which at the time I did not know that outside of the standard): Hilary (not Hillary) and Lilah (not Lila). But a reader had a very different take on unusually spelled baby names:
"Alternative spellings are not fun. You would the extra vowels and consonants unexpected and the ' unique ' look of the name, but guaranteed, your child will the rest of his/her life explanation of the spelling and pronunciation to strangers, retrieved the wrong name on correspondence, and so on. It makes you look like you can't spell and reflects poorly on your children. (No, Officer, ' Haennrie ' is not a misprint.) Your ' Luizze ' Jzahck-liynne will curse you ever. Trust me on this. Do not! "--PleasenoWhat is your take on baby names are uncommon spelled? you have it done? are you inclined?
